What does it mean to be in Salford?

What will Salford’s image be moving forward?

What is Salford’s true identity?

These were just some of the questions asked at the ‘In Salford Forum’ organised by a group of final year BA(Hons) Design Futures student’s ‘We Are Crop’. The forum was aimed at provoking dialogue and increasing awareness of people’s perceptions about Salford and featured a panel of industry guests such as film director Chris Gaffey and The Quays Arts and Cultural Development Manager, Kathy McArdle.

The project came about following the rebranding of the University of Salford to University of Salford Manchester and the announcement by the Boundary Commission for England to remove Salford from the parliamentary map; student’s wanted to explore the notion of ‘cropping Salford’.

The group were particularly interested in the relationship between Manchester and Salford and how people differentiate and acknowledge the twoThis documentary is a short glimpse at what happened on the night at the forum, to find out more about the project, visit http://wearecrop.co.uk/project.html and make sure to come down to the Degree Show at MediaCityUK where the full project will be on show.
