The University of Salford is pleased to present a series of video works by Korean artist Junebum Park and the University’s inaugural exhibition at MediaCityUK. The exhibition will be the first artistic work to utilise the large video wall situated in The Egg in The University of Salford building at MediaCityUK.
‘Puzzle’ shows a group of participants trying to complete a given task. As the difficulty of the problems set for the participants increases, movement becomes unpredictable. Multiple sets of movements intervene and cross each other with the potential to agitate the solution to the puzzle. Park draws parallels between this frenetic activity and society as a whole.
“The form of a puzzle captures sociality and human relationships, the small and large systems that exist and possible movements within them. The series of experiments confines people in the form of a puzzle and gives them a limited amount of freedom to move according to the rule.” Junebum Park, 2011
The exhibition is part of Asia Triennial Manchester 2011 and runs until the 5th December.
